I’ve had a set of these since 2012 and then they vanished. Witty collapsed in 2013-14. Now and again though, complete new sets appear on eBay for around £22.
They are the oddest set of accessories anyone ever produced.
The main reason I wanted them is the pair of luggage and container trains, plus the rather nice air stairs vehicles, which are vastly superior and more modern to the ones in the Gemini pack.
If I get around to it I’ll probably have a go and tarting them up a bit one day…then again, maybe not…
There is also a pair of yellow tractors, one of which oddly has yellow tyres and black centres to its wheels. Then there are two rather square yellow trucks, one rigid, one articulated.
There is also a catering truck but to be honest it’s massive, easily 30% larger than it should be, but I found it useful as a cargo loader on the freight side. The luggage elevator is similarly oversized, and again only useful over in freight.
The two oddest items are the armed air bridges. They look like Herpa 1:500 ones, but are closer to 1:300! They’re way too big for 1:400 but far too small for 1:200.They don’t retract but they do move at the elbow, and the canopy also moves side to side. The wheels don’t roll or retract in any way, so they’re not height adjustable, but the can be angled with care.
The two sets of air stairs are quite reasonable. Very basic square vehicles, but the high stairs reach up to the crew cargo door on 747 freighters or a main door on A380’s. They’re too high for 777’s, 787’s and A350/330/340 types.
The single height stairs are ideal for 757, A320 series but too low for the other types, and too tall for the 737, and anything smaller.
The luggage case trolleys (4) are silver with beige coloured cases, pulled by a small yellow tractor. Each one has a hole to allow the chain to be put together for a reasonably attractive display item on the diorama.
The Container trolley set is pretty much the same principle, with yellow bases and silver containers, using an identical tractor.
The catering truck elevates, but it’s just too big by far, I use it as a “specialist cargo loader”.
The tractors are frankly almost unusable. They fit little or nothing, and one has bizarre yellow tyres. I’ve got so many of different types for different aircraft I leave them randomly about as airport kit, the sort you find at Frankfurt just lying about waiting to get used.
The luggage loader is huge in comparison to anything else, and again, while nicely detailed, it looks daft near 1:400 passenger aircraft, but ideal for cargo loading over in freight!
1:400 GSE is so hard to find and it’s outrageously expensive, so while the armed gates are unusable, some imagination allows the rest to be used reasonably appropriately, despite its limitations. They aren’t brilliant by any means, but when beggars can’t be choosers, you take what you can get when it comes to 1:400 GSE!
My recommendation: if you haven’t got a set, for the luggage and air stairs alone, and you can get it cheaply enough, a buy.
