It may only take 50 minutes to get from here to Amsterdam, but it’s another world. Schipol is undergoing some massive changes inside, funky architecture only the Dutch could manage, and some superb and long overdue refurbishment – check out the amazing Geberit digital loos! In the meantime the signposting is awful and it’s one of the most confusing airports I think I have ever passed through, even Paris CDG isn’t that bad.
KLM is a friendly airline and it has a general air of warmth about it few other airlines manage. Virgin Atlantic is the only other airline I’ve ever felt any empathy for. Lufthansa when not on strike, is efficient and rigid, Air France, haughty and thinks it’s better than it is. BA think it’s God’s gift and taunt’s you to test it, but you feel like you might get a slapped wrist for asking.
These are I frankly admit, just snap shots from my iPhone 6+, through a lot of glass that was far from clean and in weather that varied from bright sun to thunderstorms. I put them here just for the sake of interest. It’s nice to see things for real you never get the opportunity to see in real life, no matter how bad the photos are!
The above videos each took me about four minutes to film, but it’s amusing enough. Thanks to Jackson Banks for the idea! It shows our 738 PH-BGB just before the flight back to BHX.
This is just one very rare opportunity for me to see a CZ A380 – they only fly the 773ER and 788 to Heathrow.
I did take many more, but the weather and light conditions were appalling, thunderstorms and rain kept rolling in – so I fully accept they’re not the best by miles, but interesting at least. Very few aircraft were present in the new livery – The KLM Asia 773 was the largest. We did see a few Fokker 70’s and a couple of E190’s in the livery but not close enough to photo, and not one of the 95th liveries was visible, if they haven’t already been removed.
